Rescue Displaced Families in South Sudan

Despite more than a year passing since violence broke out in South Sudan, millions are still displaced and need help. Your gift is reaching those in need. One of those you helped is a mom named Eliza.

Eliza’s bright smile conceals the fact she spent the past 12 hours in the open cold, waiting for food. Although she lives only 5 km from the food distribution center in Wau, spending the night outside its gates means she will be among the first in line, and this is especially important for the mother of 9.

“If I sleep at home, I won’t have a chance to receive food today,” she said. The middle-aged widow is among 9,000 displaced persons who received food rations from World Concern during a 3-day food distribution in Wau.

For Eliza, “life has not been so good,” she said reflecting on the past year after fleeing her home when fighting broke out.

But the emergency rations of cereals, grains, oil, and salt are a huge relief for her, as she is assured that her children can eat. Your gift is helping save lives, like Eliza’s children.
