Madut will never forget the night he fled his home in Unity State, South Sudan. The 55-year-old father was only able to grab his children and a few clothing items as they ran.
“There were bullet shots everywhere,” he recalls with fear in his voice. “I and my family were lucky. We ran to the police station, and from there, we made it by foot to Lietnhom.”
That’s where Madut met World Concern staff who are assisting displaced families like his, with support from donors like you.
Madut has been feeding his family by weeding people’s farms for a meager wage. They have nothing, and nowhere to go. “Where do I go? People are still being killed,” he said. He and his family are among more than 1.5 million people who have been displaced by the fighting in South Sudan since December.
With your help, Madut received emergency supplies for his family to survive, including blankets, mosquito nets, soap, and other necessities.
“My children and my wife will be safe from cold and from malaria,” he said. “I’m very grateful to World Concern for this support.”
