Your gift brought clean drinking water and latrines to South Sudan. Thank you!
Many women in South Sudan walk hours a day to fetch water for their families. Without wells, they are forced to get water from anyplace they can find it, whether it’s clean or not.
Elizabeth is one of those women. “Before World Concern came to repair the well, we would get water from ponds which were dirty. The animals would take water from the same place,” she says. “We would get sick all the time due to the dirty water. It’s all we had. But since World Concern improved our well, we don’t share the same water with the goats. They use the runoff water and that’s much better.”
Because of you, Elizabeth and her neighbors can fetch clean drinking water from their own village well. Now their families can drink clean water that is making them healthy and strong.
But clean drinking water is only part of the equation. In one area, your gift also trained 123 people in proper hygiene and water protection.
Angelo, a young man who participated in the training, explains, “When World Concern came for the hygiene training, they taught us the importance of building toilets on our homesteads. Before building the toilets, we would go in the bush.”
Using latrines stops human waste from getting into the water supply. This keeps the water clean so people don’t get sick from intestinal worms and other diseases.
Your gift is rebuilding lives! Thank you so much for giving!
