"Someone Hears Your Voice" is a 12-month scholarship support program implemented after the February 6, 2023 earthquake to ensure that young female students studying engineering can continue their education. This project is not just a scholarship application, but also a systematic support and solidarity model for young women during disaster periods when social inequalities deepen.
The earthquake severely affected thousands of families both physically and economically. Many young girls studying in engineering faculties began to have difficulty meeting their housing, livelihood and educational needs. The loss of families' jobs, the rapid depletion of economic resources and the disintegration of support networks caused many young women to face risky decisions such as dropping out of school and even marrying at an early age.
The "Various People" project provided uninterrupted monthly scholarship support to female students coming from disaster areas and studying in engineering faculties so that they could continue their education, continue their professions and contribute to society as change leaders in the future. The scholarship amounts were determined to meet the basic living and educational needs of the students and were distributed regularly for 12 months.
Eliminating the risk of not being able to continue education after a disaster, Providing economic security to young women who have lost family support, Preventing female students from leaving the engineering profession and deepening gender inequality, Preventing early marriage from being seen as a "solution" and offering alternative life paths, Providing a future scenario where these young women can express themselves and develop their leadership skills.
