This project seeks to provide a nutritious and healthy diet to 100,000 people in poverty situation affected by El Nino phenomenon in Peru, through the delivery of food to 100 community-led soup kitchens of which they are beneficiaries.
In Peru there are 9.2 million people in poverty and 1.7 million people in extreme poverty (INEI, 2022). According to IEP, 5 out of 10 people have run out of food in their homes in the last 3 months. According to forecasts, in 2024 the El Nino Phenomenon will be global and will have a huge negative impact on the entire coastal population. This magnifies the current emergency and food insecurity in Community-led soup kitchens, which comes providing food to people in popular settlements.
This project seeks to provide nutritious and healthy food to the community-led soup kitchens identified in an emergency situation due to the El Nino Phenomenon, providing supplies for one month to feed its beneficiaries, directly addressing the problem of food insecurity.
The project seeks to improve the food and nutrition of people in poverty, providing access to food and improving their quality of life, contributing to SDG 2: Zero HUNGER.
