This month our team surveyed 50 youth in Kyengera, Kampala to understand digital needs. We asked about internet access, data costs, and AI skills.
The results were clear. Forty-eight out of 50 youth had never used AI tools like ChatGPT or online job platforms. Most youth said data costs $3 per GB, which is too expensive for daily learning. Many spend hours walking to find free WiFi at trading centers.
Youth told us they want skills in freelancing, digital marketing, and online business. But they cannot practice without affordable internet. One 19-year-old said, "I have a smartphone but I cannot learn online. Data finishes too fast."
This survey confirms the urgent need for our solar WiFi and AI skills hub in Kyengera. Solar power will remove the data cost. Local language training will make AI tools accessible to Luganda speakers.
We are ready to start. Each $25 trains one youth for one month. Thank you for helping 500 youth in Kyengera get online.
