A warm hello to all the well wishers and supporters of Adharshila! We are delighted to share with you that Adharshila is all set to launch its new project – A project to impart computer literacy through a solar powered computer centre.
Through the generous support, Adharshila will be soon setting up a solar powered computer center to provide computer education and internet based learning facilities to children from underprivileged families that our school caters to. Nearly 300 Adharshila middle and high school students and nearly 900 children studying at Satellite schools in 15 nearby villages will benefit from the centre. It will help to improve their job prospects and provide wider opportunities of learning. Adharshila has already obtained a dedicated broadband internet connection a few months ago, and the availability of solar power at the computer center will help us run the center without the constraints of electricity supply. It will be a space for self-directed learning and may open new livelihood opportunities for these children.
Adharshila has already initiated the process for setting up the center. Two architects from Delhi have been consulted for finalizing the location for installing solar panel. They have visited the school personally and have identified the needs and location requirements for the project.
However, a recent major global events, Brexit, had severe implication for British Pound. Consequently, the funding we were supposed to receive from Global Giving was at risk of depreciation. Therefore, to prevent the loss to the project, the disbursement of funds was delayed awaiting any improvement in the value of British Pound. Nevertheless, now that we have recently received the funds, the project will be carried forward with much faster pace. A consultant has been finalised for the project and we hope to finish the installation part within two-three months.
We are excited to take the project further and will keep you all posted on the progress.
