I am pleased to report that funds are coming in really well on our Global Giving Solar Power Project and we have raised £5162 so far. Thank you so much to all of you who have given a donation.
Many of our supporters have also been beavering away behind the scenes and we wish to say a special thank you to Val and her team who raised £1,900 for the solar appeal at a recent jazz night and to Daniel for his sponsored night walk and Lauren for hand making and selling 30 lots of bunting.
We are excited to announce that we have a new partner, an Australian Charity called Global Sunrise, who is very experienced in the design and installation of solar and wind power systems. They will be working with us at St Peter's hospital to get renewable power in place there as soon as possible. We have decided to build and run a Community Charging Station at St Peter's in order to rent solar lamps to the local community. This will not only bring light into many homes in a cheap and safe way, but will provide income for the hospital which will be used to maintain the solar system.
Lastly, I would like to specifically mention, with thanks, that we have received a large donation towards our Solar Power appeal from Likoma Link Trust - this donation has been made in memory of Brian McLester, a very dear man who devoted much of his life to helping the people of Likoma.
Thank you for taking the time to read this short report. Your support is so valuable and, it goes without saying, but we can't do anything without you.
Kathryn
