Dear Friends,
These students smiling in the sunshine will soon be smiling in the evening as well. Thanks to your generous support we are very close to installing a new solar system in the Rubaare Educational Foundation Schools in Rubaare, Uganda. With your continued help, we can expand the scope of our project and finish a large part of the main campus, which will affect over 600 students.
The very first part of the project will focus on the girls’ dormitories to improve their comfort and safety. Secondly the main hall of the campus will be lit for use as classrooms and a homework space.
In early July, I will be traveling to Uganda to meet with solar vendors and get final bids from the three contractors we have selected so far. We are looking closely at each vendor to make sure they can service the systems we put in place and that they are providing the best quality product we can get for our funds. Also, we will be building a solar phone charging station so the school can earn funds that will help them maintain the system.
On June 25th, Microsoft is sponsoring a Youth Spark Bonus Day for all Global Giving Projects that directly help children. They are matching contributions up to $200,000 by 100%. Please donate on that day to maximize your impact.
Off now to start packing and looking forward to sending you updates from the field.
Regards,
Sylvia Herzog
