Dear Friends-

Just a quick up date to let you know how things are going on our solar campaign for the Rubaare Educational Foundation and tell you about some “sweet” incentives for supporting our project.

Donate now to support the solar lighting campaign

Good News

The Unitarian Church of Summit New Jersey has once again included REF in its annual fundraising appeal and this year raised $6,000 for our solar campaign. We are extremely grateful for their support over the last two years, first for clean cookstoves and now for solar lighting.

Solar Update

We have narrowed down our list of solar vendors and will be interviewing them this summer when we visit Uganda to pick the right contractor. Because of the favorable climate in Uganda, there are many providers of solar power, which works in our favor.

The Big Picture

As you know, our solar project in Rubaare is not just about bringing solar-powered energy to one school in one corner of Uganda. In addition to bringing much-needed illumination to the school, our goal is to ensure that the expertise gained from our portfolio of renewable energy programs in Rubaare can be shared with many other schools across Uganda and Africa.

Matching Day

You can help us reach our goal by donating on Wednesday, May 7th, which is a Global Giving Matching Day. Global Giving is matching up to 30% of donations

Have Your Cake…

Do you have a special event coming up that needs a special dessert? The Charcoal Project has a new associate and it turns out she can bake! Nikki Diaz has offered to award one of her amazing cakes for the person who donates the most the week of May 5-9th. Custom cake made to your liking for the highest donor! And if you combine the donation with the Global Giving Matching Day, you win and we win. Must live in the New York /New Jersey metropolitan area to qualify for delivery. Redeemable for a mutually agreed upon date between winner and Nikki.
