Panasonic gives 360 of these solar lanterns to VIP
Panasonic gives 360 of these solar lanterns to VIP

Very exciting news for everyone at Village Improvement Project and all our generous donors and supporters. Panasonic has honored the VIP Solar Lanterns project with a donation of 360 Panasonic solar lanterns. Panasonic has said that they aim to contribute to the progress and development of societies in developing and emerging countries through donating a solar LED lanterns to people living in areas without electricity through 2018, the 100th anniversary of the company's founding.

Dr. LeRoy Boikai, VIP's CEO, reports that we have been promised  the 360 lanterns  which will be donated to school teachers, health clinic, and orphanage workers in off-grid communities in Liberia. The solar lanterns are scheduled to arrive in Liberia in October 2017.Distribution will take place as soon as the lanterns clear Liberian customs and are delivered to our office in Monrovia. We hope to begin distributing the lanterns by December 31, 2017.

Funds raised on GlobalGiving will be used to pay for VIP staff to deliver the lanterns and to teach people how to use them. Donations are also used to pay for a secure office in Monrovia which is used to store the lanterns awaiting distribution.
