This project aims to design and implement a socio-emotional education course and to prepare a life project for young people in vulnerable situations. We believe that young people who are better prepared to deal with their emotions, and more confident of their abilities, will make more conscious choices and follow more successful personal and professional paths, improving their future lives. We have several partners, such as the Department of Social-Human Rights Education in Rio de Janeiro.
Within and outside schools, young people lack spaces and moments dedicated to their integral development, especially in relation to emotional issues and to reflection on who they genuinely are, their purposes, dreams and future vocations. Thus, young people suffer from high rates of emotional problems, such as suicide, depression, panic syndrome, lack of self-knowledge and lack of direction and perspectives for the future.
The project promotes an educational path aimed at the integral development of young people in vulnerable situations in Rio de Janeiro, with a focus on their personal and socio-emotional development-through self-knowledge and regulation of emotions-and the deepening of issues related to their professional futures, especially issues related to new professions and related skills and to how young people's dreams, skills and interests fit with today's professional world.
The long-term impact of this project is to decrease depression, suicide rates and increase self-confidence among young people. In addition, the project will get participants to know themselves better, how to deal with their emotions, recognize their strengths and dreams, and understand how they can use these skills to pursue more successful careers, aligned with who they are and what they want for their lives.
