In fact, we have failed to start the implementation activities of our project due to the lack of access to funds and also the closed state of the GlobalGiving network system not being available in Tanzania. Thus, we make the task of collecting money very difficult for us. and this leads to the failure to distribute the link of our project to various charities in the world. With the goal of our project it is very good and it is very clear nationally and it is strongly recommended that the project should be done.

*PROJECT OVERVIEW*

*Safer Births Project* is a two-year project that will carry out in rural areas of Kisarawe District council, coast region in Tanzania, Africa. This project is designed to address the leading causes of maternal and newborn mortality and to demonstrate the feasibility in reducing maternal and newborn death by providing Disposable Delivery kits to underprivileged pregnant women in rural areas of Kisarawe District, when pregnant women are forced to deliver their babies under challenging conditions and the project also aim to improve the provision of the Maternal, and Child health services to rural health facilities by training the Health Care Providers and Midwives to increase their knowledge, capacities, efficiency and accountability when they provide a Maternal and Child health Service in their rural health facilities as the part of the Tanzania Social Light Foundation's commitment and efforts to support the Tanzanian government in reducing maternal and newborn deaths and improving the Health Systems Strengthening in the country.

Death from Childbirth is one of the greatest challenges facing rural Tanzanian women today. Many studies conducted in the country show that a large number of maternal and infant deaths occur in rural areas of Tanzania. With one of the world’s highest rates of maternal and child mortality, Tanzania is at the Centre of this international health challenge. It is one of ten countries in Sub-Saharan Africa that, combined, account for over 60 percent of maternal and newborn deaths. Under these circumstances, the Government of Tanzania placed maternal health as high priority in its Health Sector Strategic Plan July 2021 – June 2026 (HSSP V).

*PROJECT ACTIVITIES:*

(*1*.)* Providing Essential Delivery kits to underprivileged pregnant women to reduce maternal and infant mortality when pregnant women are forced to deliver their babies under challenging, difficult conditions in rural areas. *

Disposable delivery kits are a simple and effective birthing kit for infection prevention and childbirth care. A clean birth kit or Birthing Kit is a small toolkit of items that help women have cleaner and safer birthing experiences. This kit includes 7 disposable components, including Macintosh, Cotton Wool, Sterile Gloves, Syringe 5cc, Cord Clump, Cut Gut 2/0, and Surgical Blade. The kit is intended for one-time use and is disposed of after delivery to prevent the spread of infection. The use of disposable delivery kits has been shown to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes by reducing the risk of infections during childbirth.

The kits can be used in remote areas where women cannot get to a clinic or hospital to deliver their babies, or in clinics with inadequate medical supplies. Birthing Kits are small enough to fit in a one-gallon bag so they can be easily distributed, stored, and pulled out for use when needed. Ideally, midwives and others who assist with home births receive training in using the kits when they receive them.

(*2*.) *Improving Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Services with an Enhanced Role for Health Care Providers and Midwives in rural health facilities:*

The Project intends to provide capacity-building training to Health Care Providers and Midwives in rural health facilities to increase the Knowledge, efficiency and accountability in provision of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health services in their health centers in project-targeted areas. These Topics include the care of pregnant women, safe delivery, identification of potential high-risk pregnancies and recognizing “danger signs”, pre- and post-natal, nutrition, ante-natal and post-natal care, community-integrated management of childhood illness, HIV and how to prevent vertical transmission of the virus, and Human Rights.
