Dear Donors,
the Social Housing project, carried out in collaboration with Tuendelee Foundation, has continued to provide safe accommodation and personalized support to families experiencing social and economic hardship in Melzo and the surrounding area, with particular attention to refugee families and vulnerable parents with children. Our goal goes beyond offering temporary housing: we work alongside each family to help them build the skills, stability, and confidence needed to achieve long-term independence.
Between March and June, several families began new chapters in their lives through the project. In March, a mother and her daughter moved into one of our apartments after completing an initial support pathway with another local organization, marking an important step toward independent living. During the same month, another family supported through our outreach program welcomed a new baby, while a family of three successfully completed their journey with the project and moved into a rented home in their community of origin.
In April, we welcomed a pregnant mother and her three-year-old daughter into the project, providing them with a safe and stable environment as she prepared for the arrival of her new baby. A few weeks later, at the end of June, the child was born safely, representing a joyful milestone for the family and for everyone involved in supporting them.
Throughout these months, we continued to strengthen the sense of community that is at the heart of the project. In April, one of the mothers living in the social housing organized a traditional Sicilian fundraising lunch. The event celebrated not only local solidarity but also the talents and active participation of the families themselves. In May, volunteers organized a Mother's Day fundraising initiative by selling flowers outside local schools in Melzo to support our activities. At the same time, children and parents took part in the end-of-year celebrations for the homework support program, sharing meals, games, and moments of togetherness that reinforced relationships between families and the local community.
June brought further positive developments. During our annual Family Day in the Park, families from the area gathered with local associations for an afternoon of games, activities, and community building. The housing program also expanded: a couple moved into one of our studio apartments after the previous tenants were relocated to a newly acquired apartment, while another mother with her three children was welcomed into housing in Melzo after transitioning from a residential community.
These stories reflect the essence of the Social Housing project: providing not only a roof over people's heads, but also opportunities to rebuild family relationships, strengthen parenting skills, create social connections, and move toward a future of autonomy and dignity.
Thank you for making these new beginnings possible!
