DLSU-COSCA engages additional community partners for the second batch of its Lasallian Social Enterprise for Economic Development (LSEED) Social Enterprise Fellowship Program. Women members from the following partner community organizations participated in the series of workshop held on February 16 and 23, 2019, March 4 and 18, 2019: a) Kababayan Samahan ng Bagong Barrio, Caloocan, Inc., b) Bukluran ng mga Migranteng Manggagawa at Kapamilya, Inc., c) Erinyes Community Kaingin I Chapter, Inc. and 4) Kayumanggi Valenzuela City Chapter Association, Inc. The series of workshop seek to introduce to the community members the concept of “social entrepreneurship (SEs) and its characteristics, organizational development, conflict resolution/ management, social business canvass and design thinking.”
Also, community members from DLSU Laguna Campus Lasallian Mission Office’s partner community, the Gawad Kalinga (GK)-Toyota Village, Sta. Rosa Cityparticipated in modules 1 and 2 of the LSEED Community Workshop held on March 28, 2019 at the DLSU Laguna Campus. Team building activities and discussion sessions facilitated the exchange of ideas and insights on topics such as circular economy, design thinking, and social value.
Moreover, aspiring students for the LSEED Fellowship program participated in the series of workshop which were organized for the community members. They attended as participant-observers, sharing the advocacy on Social Entrepreneurship.
The implementation of another series of workshop for another batch of community members from COSCA’s other partner organizations/communities in Metro Manila, and the identification of student “champions” on social entrepreneurship are strategies that will support the development of social enterprises in urban poor communities. The series of workshop also aim to deepen understanding on trends and opportunities identified in the scoping as well as identification of immediate action plans for Boot Camp 2019 to enable partner communities and students to create social enterprises that are relevant, sustainable and impact - driven.
