The project is run by the Association for Development of Child Surgery based in Wroclaw, Poland. The building that currently houses the Children Clinic is in a very bad condition (i.e. the roof is leaking). Moreover the interiors and clinic furniture are in a deplorable state. The clinic is not properly adjusted to host babies. The Association is urgently looking for funds to renovate the building and by doing so, improving the conditions of hospitalized little patients and their guardians.
The Clinic carries out saving lives surgeries for more than 30 kids per day. The building where the children are located & stay prior to and after their surgeries, does not support children's recovery process. Leaky windows, cold corridors, no place for parents to stay - makes this place unfriendly for sick kids. Great personnel saves lives of babies and children....but the conditions for their recovery need to be improved!
The Association through this project aims to improve conditions for children and prepare the place for their parents to stay with them supporting recovery process. The project's aim is to renovate the Clinic - starting from leaky windows replacement, hospital beds for infants and kids purchase, etc. As patients' parents' presence is crucial for their recovery the Association is to buy beds for them as well.
On daily basis the Clinic is a temporary home for 30 children from 0 to 18 years of age, annually more than 3000 children are the patients of the clinic. Moreover ca. 15 000- 20 000 pieces of medical advice are provided to children and their parents every year. Personnel-wise of the Children Clinic is perceived as one of the best in the region. Now it is time to renovate a terrifying, dehumanized building to create a place where kids may recover in appropriate environment.
