The Sumatran slow loris (Nycticebus coucang) is included in the list of protected animals in Indonesia. This is based on the decision of the Minister of Agriculture No. 66/Kpts/Um/2/1973 on February 14, 1973. But unfortunately, now there are still many people who trade the Sumatran slow loris due to the high market demand and easy access to get this endangered animal and there are still people who take it from nature to keep them illegally.
And at the beginning of 2022, the ISCP team again reported findings to the KSDA of the Central Aceh resort on February 13, 2022, regarding the presence of residents of the village of Belang Jorong, Bener Regency, taking care of 1 individual mother of Sumatran slow loris and her baby taken from nature approximately 3 weeks ago.
Furthermore, ISCP volunteers representing Aceh accompanied the KSDA resort middle Aceh confiscating and rescuing the 2 individual slow lorises on February 14, 2022 which also coincided with Valentine's Day, after a health check was held where the slow lorises were also recently taken from the wild , still healthy and wild, so on the same day the brood lorises and their chicks were released in the afternoon in a conservation forest area in Bener Meriah district, Central Aceh.
Warm regards
