This dermatology mission aims to provide free consultations and surgeries to 160 elderly residents in the Aysen region, addressing the long waiting lists for dermatological care. In partnership with Desafio Levantemos Chile, medical societies, the Ministry of Health, and local health services, a team of 25 professionals will operate at the Hospital Regional de Coyhaique.
In the Aysen region, many elderly residents face long waiting lists for essential dermatological consultations and surgeries. Many individuals over 55 years of age suffer from treatable skin conditions such as benign tumors, cysts, and other dermatological issues, but have limited access to timely care. Without intervention, these conditions can worsen, leading to complications and unnecessary suffering.
This project will provide free dermatological consultations and surgeries for 160 elderly patients in the Aysen region. Desafio Levantemos Chile in partnership with medical societies, the Ministry of Health, and local health services, a team of 25 professionals will carry out these treatments at the Hospital Regional de Coyhaique. This will reduce waiting times for dermatological care and offer immediate relief to patients in need of surgical intervention for their skin conditions.
By addressing skin conditions in the elderly population, this project will improve the quality of life for 160 individuals, reducing discomfort, pain, and the risk of complications from untreated conditions. In addition, it will promote better health outcomes by offering timely treatment, helping to prevent future medical complications. The success of this initiative will also serve as a model for increasing access to specialized dermatological care in remote and underserved areas of Chile.
