September marked the start of a new school year at Schooling for Life (SfL). After a rigorous application and assessment process, 12 students were accepted into SfL’s Skills for a Successful Future programme. This fourth cohort of students (Batch 4) already began their employability skills training and personal guidance sessions. They will be pursuing their studies across a wide range of disciplines, including: pharmacy, nursing, electrical and electronics, social work, mechanical engineering, information technology (IT), and banking and finance. Employability skills training and personal guidance also began for the third cohort of students (Batch 3).
SfL was honoured to hold the first graduation ceremony in September 2019 for its first cohort of students (Batch 1) who started the programme in 2015. Each student received a certificate of completion together with a letter of recommendation from SfL. Over the last few months, SfL also held a Master Class for its second, third and fourth cohorts of students (Batch 2, 3 and 4, respectively), which foucsed on “How to be a leader of positive change”.
The last few months were a productive time for SfL, signing memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with the following five institutions: BlueCrest College, FLS and IAMTECH Colleges, as well as the Government Technical Institute (GTI) and Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET). These MOUs allow SfL to expand, and strengthen, its academic partnerships.
SfL is happy to make the following announcements regarding its students.
- In September, a student from Batch 2 who recently received a Diploma in Business Management from IAMTECH College began their internship, working as a Front Desk Officer with Lacs Villa Hotel.
- In October, one of SfL’s Batch 1 students who recently graduated with a Diploma in IT from BlueCrest College started working as an Archivist at the United Bank of Africa. Another Batch 1 student who holds a Diploma in Secretarial Studies from MMCET Goderich started working as a Teacher at Ronsab Preparatory School.
- After working as an Intern, aBatch 2 graduate holding a Diploma in Business Management from IAMTECH College was employed as a Marketer at Finic Factory in November.
