Today is GlobalGiving "Matching Day" and our urgently needed house-building project in Pine Ridge, South Dakota will get an extra 30% matching bonus with your donation.
The matching starts at 9am ET and goes until the matching funds are all allocated, which usually takes not more than half a day. So please donate immediately if you can.
Our project leader, Lakota elder Christinia Eala, just keeps on plugging, stretching every dollar past the breaking point, organizing volunteers and donated materials for next summer's build. After building supplies, the biggest and least avoidable expense is for gasoline. The nearest building supply is a two-hour drive away, in Rapid City, and volunteers must be transported back and forth to the airport as well.
Your donation not only enables the work, but it also sends a strong message to the beleaguered Lakota people that the American public does care about solving the problems we have collectively created for indigenous peoples. Thank you for both previous and future donations!!!
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
