After successfully introducing comprehensive support services for LGBTI youth in Bulgaria (online chat and a network of psychologists), we purchased a property for a community center, to serve as an inclusive hub for all young people. It will feature a cafe, multifunctional event space and all profits will go to ensure the sustainability of the foundation. The project is 90% funded; pls help us with the homestretch! - LGBTI youth face stigma, bullying and homophobia and as a result no viable community exists in Bulgaria. Bulgaria ranks last within the EU in almost all categories related to LGBTI acceptance (e.g. only 16% support of marriage equality). - Nascent social entrepreneurship in the country. The majority of local non-profits rely practically 100% on grants and are unsustainable.
The overarching drivers of the Project are: (i) empowering young LGBTI people, (ii) striving to achieve sustainable social change through active participation of numerous stakeholders, with a focus on multinational corporations, and (iii) achieving sustainability of the Foundation by incorporating an entity run as a social enterprise and utilizing a start-up, bottom-up approach.
