The Development Action for Women Network (DAWN) expands its advocacy of promoting the holistic approach to reintegration for women migrant returnees, survivors of gender-based violence and trafficking and members of their families.
On 20 May 2026, Ms. Cherbett Karen L. Maralit, Member of the Board of Directors of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) visited DAWN. During her visit, she was impressed at the lasting impact of DAWN’s sustainable reintegration in building better lives for the women migrant returnees and members of their families. She also expressed MECO’s support for DAWN by purchasing and promoting DAWN’s SIKHAY products for their respective cultural activities. Director Maralit mentioned that the stories behind the sewn and handwoven products of DAWN will not only help foster better relationships between the Philippines and Taiwan, but also share the success stories of women migrants that there is a better beyond working overseas.
In addition, DAWN was also invited to milestone events of partner diplomatic posts. The first of which is the Celebration of Canada Day on 4 June 2026. DAWN and the Embassy of Canada to the Philippines has been partners in promoting programs and policies on migration, particularly on issues of human trafficking and safe return and reintegration. The second event is the Birthday of King Charles III on 9 June 2026, hosted by the British Embassy Manila (BEM). BEM has been a long-time partner of DAWN by supporting its awareness raising seminars and workshops during the pandemic as well as skills training activities on sewing and handloom weaving.
