The Development Action for Women Network (DAWN), in partnership with British Embassy Manila, conducted a series of workshop, skills training, and psychosocial activities from November to December 2022.
The training aims to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities women migrant returnees, victims of gender-based violence & trafficking and members of their families. This will empower and transform them from victims to survivors to advocates of their own issues and concerns.
The said skills training is composed of Basic Sewing and Handloom Weaving. Trainees were able to produce bags, apron skirts, sling bags, placemats, and coasters.
Other than Skills Training, trainees were also provided psychological activities that would provide psychosocial support in overcoming their challenges in life as trafficked women migrant workers and/or victims of OSEC and members of their families. The project also provided counselling and group work activities to the trainees. This was facilitated by DAWN’s Social Service Program (SSP) Coordinator, Ms. Crezol Mar Navarro, RSW.
