The Development Action for Women Network (DAWN), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), officially launched its Shared Service Facilities (SSF) on Weaving and Sewing for Sikap-Buhay (SIKHAY) Project last 31 August 2022.

The SSF is a collaborative initiative that will expand the training capabilities of DAWN in reaching out to more women migrant returnees. The SSF provided additional high-speed, computerized sewing and specialty machines (embroidery, edging, piping and steam press), and ten (10) hand-loom machines and equipment (warping frames and bobbin winders).

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was formally signed between DAWN and DTI. They are represented by the following: Ms. Carmelita G. Nuqui, DAWN Executive Director; Rev. Leonardo Morada, Secretary/Treasurer, DAWN-BOT; Ms. Mary Joy E. Barcelona, Alternative Livelihood Coordinator, DAWN; Director Marcelina Alcantara, DTI-NCRO; and Director Emma Asusano, OIC, DTI-BSMED.

Joining them were Prof. Aurora Javate-De Dios, President, DAWN-BOT; Director Levi Facunda of the Bureau of Permits of the City of Manila; Director Dindi Tan of the National Reintegration Center for OFWs; Mr. Lance Velasco, Coordinator of DAWN; and Prof. Chiho Ogaya, DAWN-Japan Coordinator.
