Quarterly Progress Report - Recycling Art Studio

By Sanne Sevig | Founder

Highlights & Impact

 1. Expanded Product Range

  • Launched our first-ever eco hollow blocks, crafted from post-consumer plastic and styrofoam waste. These blocks are strong, durable, and ready for use in building community structures.

  • Introduced a line of custom furniture: new dog & cat beds, chair-style beanbags, and hammock chairs—each featuring weather-resistant, detachable covers to ensure easy care and longevity.

  • Continued production of keychains, magnets, jewelleries, and other small items from recycled caps and plastics.

 2. Community & Engagement

  • Conducted multiple studio visits and educational sessions. This quarter alone, more than 50 families—including students, eco-families, and visiting groups—participated in recycling and hands–on design workshops.

  • Registered with the Precious Plastic Community, actively collaborating and sharing best practices with a global network of plastic upcycling hubs.3. Studio & Team Growth

  • Added a new project manager, strengthening our daily operations and streamlining in production efforts and collaborations.

  • Grew our remote working team to 8 local artisans and community volunteers, working together on extruding plastics, product assembly, packaging, and marketing.

4. Production Updates

  • Completed over 500 eco hollow blocks, earmarked for the new Kids Club build in Burgos. A real up-cycled project made reality.

  • Produced and sold 20+ chair-style beanbags and 10+ pet beds, all using eco-filling and weather-resistant outer covers.

  • Continued crafting keychains, magnets, and small products—saving countless bottle caps and stray plastics from landfill or ocean.

  Logistics & Challenges

Our overhaul project with the eco hollow blocks revealed significant logistical hurdles:

  • Transport: Hollow blocks are bulky and heavy—transporting them from our Burgos studio to remote sites across Siargao and neighboring islands has been difficult. Local ferry schedules and transport costs are unpredictable.

  • Delivery reliability: Some blocks remain undelivered due to limited freight options; this delays the build timeline of community structures like the Burgos Kids Club.

  • Revenue impact: Delays in delivery affect revenue recognition and slow down the cash flow needed to sustain and scale our operations.

  Solutions in Progress

To tackle these challenges, we are:

  • Exploring partnerships with local logistics providers, and barangay officials to secure reliable and cost-effective transportation routes.

  • Investigating grant opportunities and community fundraising to subsidize delivery expenses.

  What’s Next?

  • Finalize delivery of hollow blocks and begin use the Burgos Kids Club as a sample building, putting recycled plastics back into community use.

  • Launch a “Recycle & Swap” campaign, inviting locals to exchange plastic waste for finished goods or small donations—making recycling accessible for everyday households and small businesses.

  • Ramp up marketing and workshops, partnering with schools and local eco-groups to teach plastic segregation and upcycling.

  Thank You

Thanks to your generous support, over 2,500kg of plastic and styrofoam has been diverted from landfills and oceans since our March update. Last quarter alone, we repurposed over 800kg of waste into community-enhancing products and structures.

Your contributions don’t just fund recycling—they provide employment, environmental stewardship, and hope at a grassroots level. We’re building so much more than products; we’re building lasting change.

Please let me know if you’d like data breakdowns, quotes from participants, or multimedia assets. Thanks again for being part of our journey to transform trash into treasure!
