Safe Haven: Empowering Survivors (63466)Organization
1. Project Overview
Safe Haven: Empowering Survivors (63466) is a protection and empowerment initiative implemented by Voices of the Defenseless. The project aims to provide emergency protection, psychosocial support, legal assistance, and economic empowerment to survivors of violence and exploitation.
This report provides an honest update on project implementation progress since being listed on GlobalGiving.
2. Funding Status
Since launching the project on GlobalGiving, we have received $238 financial donations toward the project’s operational budget.
However, we are grateful to have received in-kind support in the form of medical equipment from Miga Solution. This contribution has strengthened our preparedness to support survivors requiring medical attention.
3. Progress Achieved to Date
Despite limited financial resources, we have taken the following steps:
3.1 Medical Support Strengthening
Through the donation from Miga Solution, we received essential medical equipment which has:
Improved our emergency response readiness
Enhanced basic health screening capacity
Strengthened referral coordination with healthcare providers
Increased survivor confidence in our services
These resources have allowed us to support survivors who require immediate medical attention while awaiting full operational funding.
3.2 Community Engagement and Case Identification
Even without dedicated project funding, our team has:
Continued identifying and documenting survivor cases
Provided basic counseling support through volunteer social workers
Conducted informal awareness conversations within the community
Maintained coordination with local protection stakeholders
However, these activities have been conducted on a very limited scale due to financial constraints.
4. Activities Pending Due to Lack of Funding
The following core components of the project have not yet been fully implemented:
Establishment and operationalization of a dedicated emergency shelter
Provision of food, clothing, and hygiene supplies for survivors
Structured trauma counseling programs
Legal aid services and court accompaniment
Vocational training and livelihood starter kits
Large-scale community awareness campaigns
These activities require financial resources for staffing, logistics, materials, and operational costs.
5. Current Challenges
Absence of financial donations limiting program rollout
Inability to secure and maintain a safe shelter facility
Limited ability to provide transportation, food, and emergency supplies
Increased vulnerability of survivors awaiting comprehensive support
6. Lessons Learned So Far
Community need for the Safe Haven project remains high.
Non-financial contributions are valuable and strengthen preparedness.
Early visibility on platforms like GlobalGiving is essential for long-term sustainability.
Transparent reporting builds donor trust and accountability.
7. Next Steps
Upon receiving financial donations, Voices of the Defenseless will prioritize:
Securing and equipping a temporary safe shelter.
Hiring or assigning dedicated case management staff.
Launching structured psychosocial support sessions.
Providing emergency survival kits for survivors.
Initiating livelihood training for economic empowerment.
8. Appeal and Outlook
While financial contributions have not yet been received, we remain committed to the Safe Haven mission. The medical equipment donated by Miga Solution represents an important foundational step toward building a comprehensive survivor support system.
We remain hopeful that with donor engagement through GlobalGiving, we will soon transition from preparatory activities to full implementation, directly transforming the lives of vulnerable survivors in our community.
9. Conclusion
Safe Haven: Empowering Survivors (63466) is still in its early operational phase due to limited funding. Nevertheless, foundational progress has been made through in-kind support and continued volunteer-driven efforts.
Voices of the Defenseless remains dedicated to accountability, transparency, and readiness to scale once financial resources become available.
