An Exciting New Project for Set Her Free

Welcome to Globemed at GW’s new Global Giving Page for our newest project with our partner Set Her Free! Our new project is a tailoring center for the young women in the vocational training program.

We are happy to announce that thanks to a generous $20,000 US Embassy grant that Set Her Free recieved, they were able to purchase a building for the tailoring center. The tailoring center will serve as employment for some of the girls graduating from the vocational program. This will provide the graduates with on-going support to ensure that they become self-sustaining, independent individuals. The tailoring center will also be a source of income for Set Her Free, and the income will go to supporting not only the tailoring center, but hopefully other programs within Set Her Free, as well.

After purchasing the building, the tailoring center has already seen its first clients. The women working at the center have been busy sewing sanitary pads for Set Her Free’s sanitary pad program that provides sanitary pads to girls in a rural school in Uganda, Glory of Christ Primary School, to help prevent girls from dropping out of school due to their menstrual cycles. The women working at the center have also begun sewing uniforms for local schools.

We are very excited that this program is up and running, and have high hopes for what’s to come in the future! Please consider donating to ensure that the center can keep running and Set Her Free can continue having a positive impact on the young women graduating from the vocational program.

Best,
