We would like start by thanking all the donors who have supported EBPP in construction of the temporary shelters for the Ban villagecommunities. By the end ofMay 2022, we hadprovided temporary shelters for 340 families whose homes were destroyed by the by the earthquake on 16th October 2021. Now, people who have received temporary shelter assistance are very happy because they have a comfortable place to rest and gather with their families.
The disaster that occurred in the Ban villageseriously affected the community's economy. The hard work they did was sometimes only enough to make a living with their family. In addition, the frequent occurrence of disasters also causes a deep sense of trauma and adds to the difficulty of their lives.
All people who received temporary shelters were very happy because they had a safe place to live with their families, and the testimonia below of a large family’s suffering which turned to extreme gratitude does sum up the response we proudly received for our stricken families:
“I thank EBPP and all donors very much, because after last year's earthquake that damaged all parts of my house, I had to sleep side by side with my family of five in on the terrace of a small kitchen, using tarpaulin for the walls and roof, which was very cold at night. Now, thanks to the help of this shelter, I can sleep more freely and comfortably with my family, and even my children can study inside when it rains”said Mr Sujana from Bunga hamlet, on the steep Mount Abang slopes.
Our fundraising efforts to achieve the target of building all 363 temporary shelters continued and thanks to the generosity of new donors, we will resume building shelters for the remaining 23 families next Monday, 20th of June. Hopefully, the construction work goes smoothly, so that people who receive assistance can feel safer living with their families. Thank you
