With the help of our fantastic supporters on GlobalGiving, and funds raised from various supporting events, we are pleased to announce that we have now reached our total to allow 20 ShelterBoxes to be purchased.
Members of the Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse have staged a number of events over recent months supported by their families, friends, and members of the public. These have included Sponsored Weight-Loss campaigns, Garden Parties, BBQs, Quiz Nights to name but a few, and have attracted generous donations from both the public and local companies.
These events, together with the reach of the GlobalGiving platform, have allowed us to significantly raise the profile of ShelterBox within our local community and we'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge Thank You to everyone involved in organising them and all who have supported them.
Having reached our target, this GlobalGiving campaign will soon be closed as we begin to plan our next initiative.
Thanks again for your support, and take care.
The challenge of fundraising through our more usual channels remains as the pandemic continues. We are grateful for the support of the wider community through the GlobalGiving platform to help us towards our goal. The Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse is continuing to develop initiatives to support this goal.
Homelessness at this time is an even greater catastrophe as it is inevitably compounded by the threat of Covid-19. ShelterBox provides sanctuary for families and even a place to continue with children’s education.
Having a safe space after disaster strikes, be that a result of war, natural disaster or climate change, will be our emphasis as we continue to drive this campaign.
22nd March 2021
Setting out to supply 20 ShelterBoxes in this ShelterBox's 20th year, thanks to the wonderful generosity of our donors, the Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse has already supplied six ShelterBoxes since the start of 2021, sufficient to provide safe accommodation, clean water and cooking facilities for over 60 people.
From enough to purchase a complete box, to a smaller sums enabling a family to sleep safely under mosquito nets, our global donors continue to be amazing as we all live through this global pandemic, when the need for safe accommodation has never been more desperate and fundraising exceedingly challenging.
Harnessing the initiatives of ShelterBox, we continue to engage with donors, be it in our local community, the wider Rotary family and welcoming global support as we reach for our target this year.
