This project makes it possible to provide comfortable living for lonely elderly people who, as a result of the Russian aggression, were left in Kharkiv without a home, without family and the outside help they needed. Mostly, these are bedridden or immobile elderly and disabled people who live in our shelter. Our goal is to save these people from physical suffering and despair, provide them with housing, necessary care and a sense of psychological comfort.
Since February 2022, more than 150,000 people have had their homes destroyed in semi-surrounded Kharkiv, which suffered from Russian shelling, bombs and rockets. Among them are many lonely elderly people in need of care, disabled people and elderly people who are bedridden. Caring people tried to save them. This is how our shelter appeared. Currently, displaced persons continue to arrive in Kharkiv, and among them there are again many elderly helpless people who find safe shelter with us.
With the beginning of the war, we made a shelter for elderly and infirm people. We use a three-story house for living. For more than two years, we have been taking care of our residents around the clock and trying to improve their living conditions every day. Today, we have 50 people, 26 of whom are completely bedridden. The war continues, and we have an ever-increasing number of residents, to whom we provide a full life with careful care, in a cozy and friendly atmosphere.
We enable the community to provide decent shelter for people who need it. This makes it possible for such people who are temporarily in hospitals, hostels for displaced people, under the supervision of neighbors, etc., not to be left alone in their condition, but to receive the necessary care in our shelter. We are trying to replace them with a family, we want the days or years they have left to be filled with care and peace.
