Dear Donors, Colleagues, Families and Friends:
We are thankful and we consider ourselves blessed for the lessons we learned after having gone through the Ebola epidemic that infected Sierra Leone, that allowed us to better combat COVID 19 successfully so that we were able to protect our girls at the shalter as well as our staff.
Now, we continue our work and our mission: enrollment of new clients, distribution of dignity kits to clients, individual and group counselling sessions, study sessions, medicals, family tracing, Mediation, social activities, scene of crime, legal representation in court, reunification and follow-ups on old and new clients.
We had 5 Clients referred to the shelter from the Family Support Unit in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender and Childen's Affairs, Commmunities, NGOs and other partners in child protection.
5 clients were enrolled and 1 was pregnant. Each client is assigned to a social worker for a complete case management plan. The client has access support services from other line ministries and partners, is given a dignity kit upon enrollment and the social worker provides essential services.
150 Individual counselling sessions were conducted for 30 clients on several topics: positive behavior of a child, family problems, physical abuse, rejection, strugglng academically, respect for elderly people, relationship building and trust, stress management, traumatic experience, domestic violence, fear of court setting, etc.
24 Group counsellinng were conducted for 120 girls: shelter rules, life after shelter and the impact of education to girls.
20 Study sessions were conducted for 100 clients on topics like verbal aptitude, basic calculations, dictation and spelling, Religious and Moral Education, Composition, English, Social Studies, Integrated Science for pupils in primary and secondary school.
Follow ups were made to 140 unified clients in various communicaties inside and outside of Bo, where our shelter is located.
We have been busy doing our work with the community and have been doing fundraising activities via online trainings partnering with Praxis. We have raised thousands of dollars even during the pandemic through our collaboration with professionals who generously have given of their time for these trainings. The money raised from these trainings have been donated to commit and act so we can continue our impactful work in the world.
We are grateful for the support we have received from our donors, friends and families along with partners such as GlobalGiving.
In gratitude,
Dr. Jennifer Nardozzi,
