Deprived of social support, feeling inferior to children with families, they resort to begging and grueling labor to survive. Exposed to disease and street violence including pedophilia, trafficking, and vigilante attacks, they frequently end up imprisoned or dead.
In Cameroon, numerous children face extremely precarious living conditions due to poverty, conflict, family instability, and lack of access to basic services. Key statistics: Education: UNESCO reports 30% of primary school-aged children in Cameroon are out of school. Displacement: The UNHCR notes Cameroon's Anglophone crisis displaced over 1.4 million people in 2023, including a significant proportion of children. This project will address the problem by providing street children and released juvenile detainees with a safe space for rehabilitation, vocational training, and psychological support, equipping them with skills to reintegrate into society. By reducing recidivism, improving family mediation, and fostering social stability, it will lower crime rates, enhance public safety, and strengthen communities, ultimately breaking the cycle of poverty and delinquency.
