The Parks and Horticulture Authority, with the Alif Laila Book Bus Society, is transforming a neglected shed in a Lahore park into a children's library. This vibrant space will foster learning and imagination for the thousands of children visiting daily. Featuring flexible shelves, cupboards, and a protective bamboo fence, the design balances practicality and beauty. Expanding the collection to 2,000 books, this project aims to enrich Lahore's educational environment.
In Lahore, many children lack access to safe, engaging, and educational spaces outside of school. The neglected shed in the central park represents an underutilized resource that could significantly enhance the community's educational infrastructure. Without intervention, this potential remains untapped, depriving thousands of children of a valuable opportunity for learning and recreation in a secure and inspiring environment.
The project will transform the neglected shed into a children's park library, providing a safe and engaging space for learning and recreation. By installing flexible shelves, cupboards, and a protective bamboo fence, the library will house 2,000 books and various educational materials. This will offer thousands of children daily access to resources that support their educational and imaginative growth, thereby significantly enhancing the community's educational infrastructure.
The transformation of the neglected shed into a children's park library will have a lasting positive impact on the community. By providing continuous access to educational resources and a safe space for imaginative play, it will foster a culture of learning and literacy among children. Over time, this will contribute to higher educational attainment and improved social skills. Additionally, the enhanced park environment will promote community engagement and pride.
