Sisterhood Agenda is a global, award-winning 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to educate, support, and empower women and girls with a diverse and inclusive sisterhood. Sisterhood Agenda offers partnerships, training, programs, holistic housing, and products.
For thirty (30) years, Sisterhood Agenda has been the leading provider, trainer, and resource coordinator for trauma-informed, gender-specific, evidence-based support services for women and children. Increasing awareness regarding the impact of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), Sisterhood Agenda will provide compassionate case management, coordination of care, and supportive therapeutics to implement Trauma-Informed Support Services for Women and Children for residents in the PARKS Holistic Housing community and other residents in Baltimore County to help them overcome historical trauma, promote holistic health and healing, and build resilience with the establishment of sisterhood support systems for increased stability and growth.
The issues related to trauma impacting women and girls are deeply interconnected and require holistic, integrated solutions. From a sociocultural perspective, the National Institute of Health defines trauma-informed care as:
“…building a trauma-informed environment across the continuum of care. Key steps include meeting client needs in a safe, collaborative, and compassionate manner; preventing treatment practices that retraumatize people with histories of trauma who are seeking help or receiving services; building on the strengths and resilience of clients in the context of their environments and communities; and endorsing trauma-informed principles in agencies through support, consultation, and supervision of staff.”
ACEs are not destiny, and a woman is not defined by her traumatic experiences. Women and children with ACEs require safe spaces and trauma-informed support services to thrive. Sisterhood Agenda provides both.
Sisterhood Agenda provides evidence-based, inclusive Trauma-Informed Support Services for Women and Children for women who are often primary caregivers for their children and aging parents, veterans, and others who may experience housing difficulties due to pandemic recovery, domestic violence, human trafficking, and/or transitional life circumstances. Utilizing the power of green spaces, Sisterhood Agenda’s PARKS Holistic Housing is safe, eco-friendly, environmentally harmonious, climate-change resilient, economically sustainable, promotes health and wellness, and increases the quality of life.
Sisterhood Agenda’s Trauma-Informed Support Services for Women and Children is the missing link in permanent supportive housing models. Connected to a global network beyond the initial forty-six (46) women served, it is a new project to implement and evaluate a model for trauma-informed supportive services that can be scaled and replicated in residential communities throughout the County, State, and nationally.
Thank you for joining this very important mission by being a thoughtful donor to our cause.
