This project will educate young people about the rich history of Papua New Guinea, building pride in the nation and hope for the future. It will promote the 5 National Goals and Directive Principles of the Papua New Guinea Constitution: for EVERY PERSON to have the opportunity to develop as a WHOLE PERSON; EQUAL OPPORTUNITY to benefit from the development of OUR COUNTRY; to be INDEPEDENT and SELF RELIANT; the ENVIRONMENT to be CONSERVED; and to use PAPUA NEW GUINEAN WAYS to shape our future.
The problem is that the current model of development in PNG unfairly and ruthlessly exploits the earth, its people, land and natural resources. Invaders, exploiters and colonists have stolen our people's history and made us feel it wasn't important. When the colonisers came to PNG we were led to believe that the invading cultures were better or more advanced. We have lost pride in our many achievements as a people.
This project will educate young people in rural & urban areas, youth groups in churches, students and teachers in schools from elementary through to universities about the rich history of our country and the vision of the Constitutional Planning Committee as set down by the 5 National Goals & Directive Principles of the Papua New Guinea Constitution.
To create a fair and equitable society throughout PNG, as set down by the PNG Constitution's 5 National Goals & Directive Principles. People will be reminded that in the past we have played a leading role in world history, in the development of modern speech, mastery of the seas, agriculture and development of sustainable forestry. Papua New Guineans will have new pride in their past achievements, and be able to truly take control of their future.
