Through this project we address the issue of poverty and lack of education in rural Moldova and we offer a concrete, immediate impact solution for the children suffering from hunger and who are most at risk of pre-school abandonment.
In Moldova, about one quarter of people live in poverty, but this rate rises quickly for children in rural areas, from large families, or living in single parent households, according to UNICEF analyses. Poor nutrition is a risk for many Moldovan children. One in seven children from the poorest families shows signs of chronic malnutrition which in turn affects their ability to learn and earn later in life. The project will help more than 25 poor children in Cretoaia to do not fall asleep hungry.
Through this project, children receive a warm meal every day and participate in preschool activities under the direct guidance of a pedagogue. Children will be involved in personal development activities and will have greater chances to fit into the primary education process.
In the long term, these children will have more chances to do not abandon the kindergarten because of material shortages at home. Through the project we proposes that all children from Cretoaia village, to be gathered and included in the program in the following stages.
