Spring is already here, which brings an enormous amount of excitement with the children and teachers from Teach for Romania. In our country, the beginning of wonderful season means Martisor. You might be wondering what Martisor is; in our culture, giving a small gift 1st of March, wrapped with a string made out of white and red threads, symbolize the passing from the white winter and the welcoming to the lively spring.
Children, along with their teachers and parents came up with ideas of re-inventing this ancient tradition in their own authentic way. They took part in handmade workshops, while coordinated and supervised by their teacher and parents. Together, making use of their flowing creativity and rich imagination, they created unique, hand-made gifts, ready to be offered to their loved ones.
Teaching children to cooperate and encouraging to make decisions, use resources and be creative prepares them to face life’s struggles successfully and develops their problem solving skills. Teach for Romania teachers are enouraging students to take into consideration other's ideas, to be tolerant and learn how to work together.
