Children in rural Romania have twice lower chances to live a better life. The main cause is lack of quality education and teachers willing to go in vulnerable communities in Romania. Children without access to proper education will have limited life opportunities and often fail to become valuable members of the society. But teachers can change that. Or could. Because simply there are not enough good teachers willing to go in rural areas and funds to support their training and relocation to these places.
Teach for Romania recruits, trains and places transformational teachers in the most vulnerable communities in Romania, investing $17000 in their training every year. That's the cost of an average car or the cost of dining out for 2 years. For this money, we help 38 of the best teachers in the country to teach over 4500 children and give them guidance about life values. For 15 dollars, the cost of a quality lesson provided by our teachers, you can be one of these children's models in life.
Every child that benefits from quality education develops an expanded horizon and many more chances to a quality life. In our successful experience, with the right teachers, underperforming schools become productive, whereas demotivated students start participating and taking initiative in class and in their communities. Our teachers also have a systemic impact by bringing resources within the school, accessing funds and occupying relevant roles in the system.
