Our Sexual Rights Initiative is redefining the sexual rights movement with hundreds of smart and talented sexual rights activists in the Global South. We raise the capacity of Global South advocates to speak for themselves at the United Nations by demystifying global human rights mechanisms. We support Global South advocates writing honest reports on the status of sexual rights in country, and support them in advocating to governments and global decision makers for improvements.
Kalizeta dies in childbirth, Lindsay bleeds out during an unsafe abortion. Cara joins the hundreds of trans women murdered each year, and Marisol gets deported after being "rescued" in a sex-work sweep. Cases like these take place in every corner of the world. Sadly, even at the United Nations, sexual rights are left off the table. Our coalition of Global South advocates are helping put them back on the agenda to save the lives of those threatened by sexual rights abuses every day.
We're raising up the voices of global south activists to build a stronger global movement for sexual rights. By supporting activists with workshops, advocacy materials, and participation in the Universal Periodic Review process at the United Nations we are redefining leadership for this global movement. By empowering their voices we break down the myth that sexual rights are not global rights.
By changing the face of the sexual rights movement at the UN we are building a stronger movement to ensure that everyone, everywhere, rural and remote has the same access to sexual rights. By working together we can end the criminalization of thousands and the unnecessary deaths happening every day because our leaders are too scared to guarantee all people's human rights, including their sexual rights.
