Greetings from Azad India Foundation!
It is my pleasure to share our latest report via GlobalGiving on the progress of our project to provide sewing machine to a needy girl for self-reliance in Kishanganj district of Bihar. Thank you for your support and for empowering girls to rise out of poverty.
Kishanganj district in the state of Bihar faced unprecedented heavy floods in August 2017. Lakhs of people have been displaced as the water entered around 700 villages and the main town damaging property, crops and livestock etc. As part of flood relief program ,Azad India Foundation gave away sewing machines to Safakat and Razia from the village Chattargach,Anjuma from the village Chichwabari and Pyari from the village Pulbari whose houses were damaged in the floods. The sewing machines will help them rebuild their lives through financial stability.
Azad India Foundation is running sewing center at the village Chattargach where 22 girls are learning basic stitching and tailoring. It is six-month course following which a girl can start earning from her home. As most of the girls belong to marginalized sections of the community they are unable to buy machines. This project helps them to realize their dreams.
