Greetings from Azad India Foundation!
It is my pleasure to share our latest report via Global Giving on the progress of our project to provide sewing machine to a needy girl for self-reliance in Kishanganj district of Bihar. Your generous gift to provide needy girls in Kishanganj with a sewing machine has been life changing. Thank you for your support and for empowering girls to rise out of poverty.
Azad India Foundation gave sewing machines to Ruby, Afsana and Bilkish from village Nezagachh, Koltha and Phoolbari from Block Pothia and Thakurganj. AIF team visited Ruby at her village after three months. We were delighted to find that she is earning around Rs 1500 per month stitching clothes in her village. The team also visited Afsana and reported that she is also earning between Rs 1000 -1200 per month. They are contributing to their family income.
Azad India Foundation is running sewing center at the village Chattargach where new batch of girls have started learning basic stitching and tailoring. It is six-month course following which a girl can start earning from her home. As most of the girls belong to marginalized sections of the community they are unable to buy machines. This project helps them to realize their dreams.
