Seasons Greetings from Azad India Foundation!
It is my pleasure to share our latest report via Global Giving on the progress of our project to provide sewing machine to a needy girl for self-reliance in Kishanganj district of Bihar. Thank you for your support and for empowering women to rise out of poverty. A sewing machine may be a simple gift but it is life changing for many women and their families.
As a part of the ongoing livelihood support program, Azad India Foundation had given sewing machines to Anwari,Rumi and Radha from village Chattargach.
The project team revisited therir home after 6 months to see the impact of the donation. With her sewing machine Anwari is earning Rs 8000 -10,000 (approx. $100-120) per month by taking orders from the local tailors and support her family.
Radha is earning Rs 4000-4500 (approx. $75) per month from her sewing machine.
Rumi from village Miyabasti is earning Rs 6000-6500 (approx. $90) per month supporting her family.
They get orders from nearby villages and local tailors also give them work.
Anwari, Radha and Rumi are thankful to the donors and Global Giving for their support.
Azad India Foundation is now running three sewing centers at the village Chattargach, Bahadurganj and Kishanganj where 100 girls are learning basic stitching and tailoring. It is six-month course following which a girl can start earning from her home. As most of the girls belong to marginalized sections of the community they are unable to buy machines. This project helps them to realize their dreams.
