Setu gets transparency Certification

 Dear Readers!

Congratulations to all of you for your support, Setu was conferred with conferred the GuideStar India Advanced Level- Gold Certification Award under the GuideStar India Transparency Awards 2016. The award shall be presented at a special awards function to be held in Mumbai on September 27, 2016.

During this quarter festivities took over and it all started with In house Activities.

We celebrated the 70th Independence Day with the hosting of the national flag, Cultural show by the students of the school at Nithari & Skill centres at Nithari and Sadarpur and an exhibition by the school children. The function was attended by volunteers from Cognizant, some well wishers, students and staff of Setu along with the Trustees.

Students of Setu demonstrate their talent at the Annual Academic Exhibition, Many Parents were present on the occasion and very happy to see the work created by their children. The models were also applauded by all the visitors and Volunteers who graced the occasion. The cultural show was a big hit with the audience and the models at the exhibition was well appreciated by all present.

Students also celebrated Rakhi and Janamashmi at our school where students took part with full enthusiasm. A Fashion show was organised by Pre-primary students of Setu to teach us the importance of Fruits and Vegetables in our lives during the Food Week Celebration.

As in earlier quarters Inter School Activities continued and Career counselling session was organised for the students of Class 9 and 10 at Mayoor School Noida.

Employee Volunteering as well as the Saturday School activity is an essential element towards the students learning at Setu. It was a great learning and development day for the students at Setu thanks to our dedicated Volunteers.

Activity of the day over the various Saturdays included

  • Card Making for Junior School and A Drawing Competition for Seniors with the theme " Dreaming today for a better India tomorrow"
  • Meditation, Moral Values and Storytelling by Cdr Chopra
  • Guest Lecture on Adventure Sports by Team Octane Marketing
  • Guest Lecture and Career counselling by Volunteer from Tata Teleservices Ltd
  • Birthday Celebration with Employees of Adobe

 

Volunteers from Khushiyan-Connecting Helping Hands our Volunteering Support Partner celebrate Teachers day with Setu students

Suman one of our well wishers from New Zealand along with her friends gifted rations to the students at Setu, what a wonderful end to an activity based Saturday on 06/08/2016. Kresn is a New Zealand based organisation working in the social frame and now wants to work in India. Suman is one of the founders of Kresn.

As part of our special focus with volunteer engagement and inputs for our students to ensure their holistic growth, employees of Cognizant conducted remedial classes for Setu School Students.

During The quarter Health camp were organised on 3rd September a General Health Camp was organised for the residents of Nithari Village Noida at the Setu School and 231 families were covered courtesy our Partner Saket City Hospital Delhi and Voluntary Blood donation Camps were organised at various corporate.

It was quarter of learning for our teachers also and various Workshop for Teachers were held.

  • On 16th July a workshop was conducted for teachers on healthy eating habits by one of our volunteer Karan Lalawat where he shared some simple tips which will create great impact on health.
  • School teachers went thru a Disaster Management workshop was organised by local gram Pradhan for school teachers. They were given hands on training on how to manage during emergencies like earthquake, fire or any other difficult situation. All teachers who went thru the training were also cleared the Disaster management assessment and were certified.
  • Quality Education for all" a seminar on use of digital methods for teaching at schools was attended by our Education Advisor Mrs Indira and Vice Principal Shilpy  - Great Learning for all.

 

The quarter also heralded success at the Skill Centers with

  • The tailoring students who completed their course under the Setu Women Empowerment and Employability Program were awarded certificates by Ravi Trustee Setu at a ceremony held at our Sadarpur Centre.
  • Students of ICT course celebrate the completion of the batch by organising a farewell party - 62 students attend the get-to-gather with snacks and sweets mostly prepared and carried by them from home.
  • Mr. Arvind VP Strategy and Migration MetLife GOSC handed over Certificates to 124 students who completed the IT Course. Also present on the occasion was the Metlife CSR Representative Abbas.
  • Students doing the General Duty Assistant course were handed over certificates by Richa Director Learning & Development at MetLife GOSC, also present on the occasion was Abbas CSR Coordinator Metlife GOSC along with the Centre In-charge Setu Sadarpur Centre Meena and Komal GDA faculty. The session concluded with an interaction with the students and distribution of a gift item to all students.
