Setu Annual Report

Dear Friends,

SETU shall concluded its 6th year of operations today 31st March 2013, during the last one year thanks to the
support from all of you
and the trust you had in us we have successfully been able to facilitate the following:

We started three new projects:

- 68 young Challenged (Disabled) Women were provided resources and training in trades with a ready
market and some buy back facility that promises financial returns at our Project in Pondicherry.

- 50 Young HIV Positive Women were provided entrepreneurial skills at a Industrial Hand Gloves Making
Training and Production Unit and rehabilitated at our project in Trichy.

- Regular free medical camps once in a month (4th Sunday) catering to about 2000 patients in a day in a semi-rural/rural population to Raising Awareness and providing screening for Cervical cancer around Bangalore.

As far as the existing projects are concerned:

- SETU School at Village Nithari Noida completed its fifth year of operation. One hundred and sixty nine (169) children out of which Ninety (90) are girls are being provided education. This included 38 new children admitted this year- academic session 2013-2014. The school has since been upgraded to class 9 from the session 2013-2014. The focus was on the holistic development of the child.

- SETU as part of its mission to promote education among children, especially the Girl child has granted scholarship to forty five (45) Girl children studying in Noida under the SETU Girl Child Scholarship Scheme 2007 onwards. SETU shall sponsor the complete education of these children which includes school fees, books and note books, uniform and coaching class fees.

- The session 2012-2013 also concluded with thirty (30) children going thru formal education in classes 1st and 2nd at the SSJK Salarpur which was upgraded from a transit facility in 2010-2011 to a formal school as a spoke to SSJK Nithari. This facility has also been upgraded now and shall cater to 60 students from the session 2013-2014.

- A new feature at the School was the Introduction of Smart Class Curriculum.

- SETU under the Health project has made an effort to create awareness towards Aids and Cancer which
covered almost 25000 employees across 16 companies across NCR in the last 5 years. Apart from this 15 Blood Donation Camps were also organised during the year yielding around 1500 units of blood.

- Setu IT learning Centre at Nithari launched Feb 2012 provided professional education to 138 youth who have undergone/undergoing Basic IT Skills Program accredited by NIIT Foundation and the Tally Programs.

- As part of the Women Empowerment Program, a Mahila Prashikshan Kendra opened at Nithari in March 2012, provided Skills in Fashion Design to 124 women.

- Volunteering was at an all time high at 109 days in the year involving over 2200 Volunteers from various organisations, schools and colleges who participated in various events across the year.

During this period, the students impacted where 649 Comprising of 471 girls and women and 178 boys, involving over 63408 learning hours. This also covered 50 women with special needs and 191 out of school
beneficiaries.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our associates and the employees of SETU since without their contribution all this would not have been possible.

Volunteering at Setu:  Since we have facilities in NCR India, you can get involved and volunteer to:

1. Deliver Guest Lectures for Basic IT Students.

2. Teach English Communication to all Classes 

3. Take remedial classes for slow learners.

4.  Help students with Sports Activities and Indoor games 

6. Help to prepare children for Function (Dance/Music/ Skits) - Children's day / Independence day/Republic day/ School Annual day/ Inter school competition.

7. Help at Setu Health Projects - Blood Donation / Cancer Awareness Camps/ Aids Awareness Camps/ Health / Dental  / Eye Check up and  Immunisation Camps

8. Volunteer and facilitate children visits to Nature parks/Historical places/ Museums etc. and to accompany and ferry students to Cultural/interschool shows and competition  

10. Volunteer to deliver Adult Literacy Program 

11. Help Paint and decorate the school 

12. Help in Fund raising and Fund raising events.

13. Help Organise Utility Items like  Genset, UPS, LCD ,Projector, Benches , Musical Instruments etc and   Stationery items, Books, Uniform as the requirement of school ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
