Dear Readers,
Setu remained undeterred despite Covid19 situation around but with caution. During the last quarter Oct to Dec 20 our endeavour to Skill and Empower the under –served continued. Slowly we adapted to the new normal. Education activities though majorly conducted online continued, however with social distancing the students of Class 9 to 12 starting coming to School. The women empowerment Vocational Skill Programs which were being conducted online also stated offline in a phased manner.
Project Uday:
While classes for majority of the school were conducted online, Classes 9 to 12 started offline classes in a phased manner as school re-opened for them.
During October generally a month of festivals and celebration the school children celebrated Dusshera online with an online activity.The Pre-primary students had a picture making competition of Ravana using different shapes like circles, squares, triangles etc.
The Primary Section had a poem recitation competition in English or Hindi for which they shot a video along with a speech on the importance of Dussehra.
In November we generally organise the Setu Shikshajyoti painting competition which had to be postponed this year, however the students participated in an online painting competition organised at school. We also organised a teacher training program in advance excel skills courtesy Cognizant. Participated
As we reached the end of the quarter as well as the Year 2020 we celebrated X’mas online with the students participating in Christmas carol recitation, drawing and dance activity with ethnic wear.
On the educational front Subject wise activity based learning continued
The quarter ended with festivity and we ensure distribution of Blanket and Rations to poor families, Cycles to students who did not have access to public transport. We also distributed winter uniform (Sweaters) to students along with Stationery items. On the eve of New Year Gifts sent by Santa from various organisations were distributed to students.
A Workshop on Cyber Security was organised and this is what some students said:
Yashwani Class 7 - We got an opportunity to gain important information on cyber-crime on the 30th of October which was conducted by Cyber Security Awareness Team FI. I came to know that sharing any kind of online information can lead us into big trouble and the chances of misuse increases therefore we should we should not share our OTP , password etc. to anyone. The workshop turned out to be very interesting and informative. Thanks to our school and the cyber security team for sharing such an important information with us.
Kunal Class 7 - On the 30th of October workshop on cybercrime was conducted online by Cyber Security Awareness Team FI. The workshop was very informative and it made us aware that we should not share our data, password and OTP to anyone because these might be chances of viruses. We also came to know that anyone can track our profile picture from any of the application like Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram etc. and can track all the information about our hub. Overall this workshop was very helpful for us and we also became aware that we should not share any of the details like OTP, Password etc. any one.
Success Stories
Abraham was a student of Setu. He passed his class 12 board examination in the year 2018. Currently he is pursuing his graduation in Commerce. He wants to become a successful business man. There are 2 members in his family. He lost his father at a very young age and his mother is currently in village. Abraham stays with his uncle and aunt and works as a Ward boy in Surbhi hospital so that he can take care of his mother. Being the only earning member of his family his monthly income is Rs 9000/-. He is a child with strong determination and hardworking.
Kiran was a student of Setu. She passed her class 12 examination in the year 2018. Kiran was a very shy girl but now she has turned out to be a very confident working girl. She assists an optician in eye care. She has done IT course from Setu Skill Centre and is now pursuing graduation in Commerce. Kiran belongs to a family of 5 members. Her father does a glass work and earns Rs. 18000 per month. The bad condition of the family made Kiran realize that along with her studies she has to work in order to support the family and she has been able to manage both her studies as well as job very well. She words as an Assistant at Eye care Hospital and earns Rs 10000/- per month. The family income has now increased to Rs. 28000/ per month.
