Quarterly Report Jan to March 20

Dear Readers

This quarter January to March 2021 was cut short by COVID 19, despite this we were able to meet our commitments to our stake holders. We also played an active role in providing food to people affected by COVID 19. At Setu we are trying hard to support them during this period by providing them dry ration. Many individual donors have come up and join hands with Setu. Together we can be a support in their lives. Happy reading and stay safe at home.

Class 10 and 12 wrote their board exams however til was also curtailed by COVID 19.

During The quarter at Setu Shiksha Jyoti Kendra we had the following activities during the quarter:

  • Festival celebrations
  • Inter School competitions
  • Distributions to students
  • Board Exams
  • Health camp
  • Workshop

 

Celebrations

Lohri Celebration: Festival was celebrated with full enthusiasm. Senior girls and teachers danced on folk music. Sweets was distributed to all. A celebration with difference across all centres of Setu started with Bicycle distribution to needy students, blankets to students with 100% attendance and ration distribution to all students at Setu School and finally a workshop started on Agarbatti making for students with Special Needs.

Republic day: was celebrated with fun and fare at Setu, students from The Setu Centre for People with Special Need, Setu Skill Centre and Setu school Nithari enthralled the audience with their performance after the flag hosting Ceremony. Parents, teachers and students appreciated the performance of the students. Food hampers were distributed to the students courtesy Mentor Graphics India. In addition we also celebrated Saraswati Puja in which Teachers along with students organized a puja and distributed Prasad.

Interschool activities

Mayoor School visit: Under interschool exchange program students and teacher from Mayoor visited Setu twice in this quarter.Setu students were invited in Mayoor Carnival where they were given free rides and food coupons. They also received return gifts from them. At the Mayoor Sports meet like every yearSetu students are invited in their sports meet. They took part in relay race.

Interschool sports meet by Concern India: Every year Setu participates in this competition. This year also our students went for the event and won first prize in relay race. More than ten NGO schools participates in this. Our students are all-rounder.

Gift Distributions at Setu

There were many occasions for Gift distribution to students during the Quarter:

While the toppers of our School Manisha Singh, Neelam, Mansi and Renu Kurmi got Higher Education Scholarship, 10 students selected on performance basis, distance from school and their regularity to school were handed over Bicycles

As winters set in with Xmas Celebrations and New Year 2020 set in we distributed rations on the occasion of Makarsakranti to all students of the school. Students with 100% attendance were given blankets in this winter. On the occasion of Xmas and New Year gifts of choice was provide to all our students

Dry ration distribution during Covid -19: Looking at the current situation as COVID 19 affects all of us especially the Marginalized our  teachers are in regular touch with their students to give them moral support and healthy tips. During their conversation they shared their need of dry ration for which a drive was initiated to collecting funds to fulfill the needs of the beneficiaries. Till now 235 families have been covered across school and skill.

Health camp : We also organised anEar checkup camp was organized for all beneficiaries with the help of Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of speech and hearing disabilities. They covered all students and employees of Setu at Nithari. As part of our Health Initiative, a Workshop for teachers on Health: Ms. Anupama, yoga instructorconducted interactive session for school teachers. Some simple yoga exercises were taught during the session. Lot of information, tips were there for them to take away from this session.
