This month, Uganda Unites hosted its first ever Workplace Conflict Resolution Workshop, bringing together close to 50 participants from organisations across the country. The group included senior executives, mid-level managers, and business owners, reflecting the broad relevance of the issues addressed.
Over eight hours, participants explored the root causes of workplace conflict, including tribalism, unconscious bias, class and religious differences, and communication breakdowns. The session combined practical skills, mediation, active listening, and conflict resolution strategies, with structured reflection on how cultural norms shape workplace dynamics.
The workshop marks a significant step in extending our mission into the corporate space and lays the foundation for a sustainable, income-generating training service for organisations across Uganda.
In addition to that ten young Ugandans successfully completed the Global Unites Master Trainers Academy (GUMTA), returning home equipped with the skills, confidence, and networks to lead peacebuilding work in their communities.
We congratulate Ayera Ambrose, Abeson Alex, Arike Jacob, Atwebembere Joshua, Edic Naume, Kagoya Joan, Kailanga Jeffson Mulangwa, Masika Vivian Ziporah, Nakyanzi Racheal, and Nantume Margaret on this milestone. Each graduate is now ready to lead local projects, mentor peers, and champion peace within their communities.
These two activities show what is already possible. A workshop changes a workplace. Training and skilling of youth produces leaders. However without a permanent home, our impact is limited to the number of sessions we can hold.
A Reconciliation Centre would change that. It would give 500 young people, especially those most prone to radicalisation, a daily space for mentorship, counter-narrative education, skills training, and dialogue across divides. It would turn one-off engagements into lasting transformation, and our trained graduates into full-time changemakers.
