Uganda Unites: February 2025 Progress Report

As we step into 2025, we are reminded of the pressing need for peacebuilding and conflict transformation, especially in light of the increasing conflicts worldwide. While these challenges may seem daunting, they only strengthen our resolve to act now—creating safer communities in Uganda, one student at a time.

Peacebuilding in Eastern Uganda

We began the year in the eastern region, where our dedicated team of volunteers engaged students at St. Peter’s High School - Jinja in an insightful peacebuilding session. These young minds participated in discussions on conflict resolution and community cohesion, identifying potential sources of conflict and collaboratively designing solutions. Through interactive activities, they explored the risks that could hinder community cooperation and strategized ways to bridge divides. The students embraced their roles as change agents, committing to fostering dialogue, understanding, and unity. Witnessing their enthusiasm and determination reaffirms our belief that the seeds of peace, once planted, will flourish in Uganda’s future generations.

Strengthening Peace Clubs in Central Uganda

Meanwhile, our volunteers in the central region took a different approach, focusing on strengthening a peace club at Kazo Central Secondary School and inspiring new students transitioning from primary to secondary school. Our Central Team conducted a follow-up session to assess the club’s growth and impact. Returning members shared their experiences, highlighting the transformative power of dialogue and empathy. As the new cohort of Senior 1 students joined the club, our volunteers passionately conveyed the vision of a harmonious school environment where differences are celebrated, and conflicts are addressed through mutual understanding. The enthusiasm of the new members demonstrated their readiness to actively contribute to peacebuilding. This recruitment was not merely about expanding membership—it signified the cultivation of a lasting culture of peace within the school.

As we continue our journey toward establishing Uganda’s first reconciliation center, these efforts underscore our unwavering commitment to empowering young people as the architects of a peaceful future. Thank you for your continued support in making this vision a reality.
