Akbari, 46, a resident of MMB Street Kolkata. She runs a small tea shop in the outskirts of the city. For the past two months, Akbari had been experiencing severe headache and fatigue which begun to hamper her day-to-day activities and her work. Having lost faith in the government hospitals in her area, she decided to visit a local practitioner to cure her ailment. She found out from other locals who had visited the doctor that she required Rs.300 for the check up and Rs.900 for medicines. This amount was nothing but an additional burden for her that too it was uncertain about the period she needed treatment.
Her condition continued to worsen and reached a stage where she couldn’t walk more than a few steps due to fatigue. As her pain kept increasing, she was desperate for a doctor who could help her cure this problem. One of the men living in her neighbourhood told her how he was cured of shoulder pain after visiting RHCF’s clinic at Zakaria where he paid Rs. 50 for the checkup and received a week’s worth of medicines for free. Finding this too good to be true, Akbari decided to visit the centre herself on 16th April 2018. After a proper check-up, the General Physician- Dr. Kinkar found out the Akbari was suffering from high blood pressure (104/142 at that point of time). The doctor prescribed her with proper medicine and asked her to intake low-salt diet. Also he advised her to start morning walk so that blood flow in her body remains normal.
Akbari visited the centre the following week, wherein, she informed the doctor that she no more is troubled with fatigue and headache. However the physician found that her blood pressure was not yet normal but it had improved significantly (bp: 90/130). So, he advised her to continue the medicine and get her blood pressure checked-up at regular interval.
She now visits the centre whenever she feels unwell and recommends it to any of her friends or family member who is unwell.
Akbari is among several other benefciairies that have been served with primary healthcare and free medicines due to your donations that you have given to Rurual Health Care Foundation (RHCF) with great hope and trust.
