Team Wellness Retreat

By Tracy Brookshaw | OOH General Manager

It was most of our artisans' 1st time at the sea!
It was most of our artisans' 1st time at the sea!

Tracy Brookshaw is our new General Manager of our OOH program in Cambodia. Tracy hails from the UK. Here she talks about our recent annual team wellness retreat.

In late May, our Senhoa team spent quality time together on their staff wellness retreat. The annual trip being an opportunity to step away from the usual day-to-day business of making handcrafted jewelry and building better working relationships in a new relaxing setting.

This is an exciting event in the Senhoa calendar, as our artisans do not often have opportunity to travel and visit places of interest within their own country. Therefore choosing the retreat destination was an important task, so after some careful consideration, our team picked the coastal town of Kep in Cambodia as several of the artisans had not visited the coast of Cambodia before and had never seen the ocean.

Our Cambodian team of 14, including artisans and team leaders, spent several days on the beach, safely enjoying the sea and participating in fun activities and games to better know their colleagues and to work better as a team for the year ahead.

The favourite activities taken from the retreat included spending time in nature with the mountains and sea being high on the artisans’ list. Also taking time to have fun and socialise with their Senhoa colleagues was very popular.

The trip was supported by Senhoa and the artisans themselves, as they choose to use profits from their Our Own Hands (OOH) business to pay for activities during the retreat. OOH is an affordable line of jewelry line designed and made by the artisans sold to a local Cambodian market. The profit from OOH goes directly back to the artisans and they can decide together to fund social events or invested in the OOH business.
